“Saturday 30 July - Attended a 70th birthday celebration dinner in the Library room which was enjoyed by all guests and especially the birthday girl. The staff were attentive and efficient, food and wine good. We stayed the night, and our room was fabulous overlooking the beautiful views. The doormen and reception staff were most welcoming, especially Laura McCarthy who arranged our room and gave us an overview of the hotel and facilities, ensuring we had an early check in, booked slots at the spa/swimming pool and that we made the most of our stay. Most professional. The breakfast was disappointing and not up to standard of such a prestigious hotel. There were many staff who didn’t really know what to do.Many requests for a pot of tea and coffee by most guests had to be chased. The food which was self service was barely hot and choice of continental non existent. Drink prices are expensive and include a service charge that ramps the price up. Hence a 3+ rating overall.”
